Test PET

I think that my performance wasn't bad, but I know that isn't perfect and I must improve my abilities with "listening", because in this matter I have worst performance.

But in vocabulary and reading, I think that I had a nice performance, so I'll focus on pronunciation and listening for the final test. In general, I'll practice for get a good mark in the final test.

2015 challenges: urbanisation

Hello.

This article is interesting for understand -from sociology- a demography's inquiry results. The statistics announced by "The Guardian" are useful for interpret this social phenomenon, they do a prediction of the urban population in 2050.
Then, comes the question: Which are the causes of rural to urban migration? "The Guardian" notes that the causes are connected with the convenience and access to services. This is so interesting for social sciences because economic factor is working behind, in this same way, the human's movement imply a growth of "slums" (in Chile also know as "Población Callampa"). So, the rural to urban migration causes a social-spatial problem.

Another important things are Pollution, Public Policy, Disaster-Resilience, etc.
In first place, while the population (in cities) is increasing, the pollution (in cities) is increasing too, this problem results of the competition for space, jobs, water and energy.
Secondly, the public policies are insufficient to cover all the services that the city's government should. The spatial policy don't consider the people that lives in slums, so they don't have space in the community's decisions.
Finally, the disaster-resilience is another problem of city's overpopulation. In this way, the problem is that "natural and man-made disasters require a fundamental understanding of the urban dynamic", for example, the Ébola is a big problem because it's a very contagious disease that could cause death and the population it's very near one from one another, wherewith the bio-hazard is high.

Finally, I would like to say that this area of studies it's very interesting for me (demography, statistics and sociology of the city), so this post about the urbanization helps me to understand better this topic.

It's all for now.

El Último Don

Hello!

This is one of my favorites books and it's written by Mario Puzo! This book is a gift from an uncle, I said him that I like very much the "gangsters" (Mario Puzo wrote "El Padrino" too). The title narrate numerous histories around a family, but this family is particular. The family Clericuzio is a gangster family, and they manage many "deals" and social networks (for example with film industry, drug trafficking ring and casinos).

This is a gangster novel and it's very famous in U.S.A because it's inspired in real histories of mafia facts and, for this, it's a realistic novel. Also, there're many characters and social interactions that make this novel popular and interesting (it's amazing considering the 718 pages).

I like this novel for two reasons: because it's a gift and because it catches me (isn't easy). Now, I'm very satisfied with this book! because it's elements allow to increase our senses about the gangsters and mafias, but in my role as sociologist I could appreciate many things so interesting for my discipline (for example the codes, the antagonism and rivalry, the concepts of love and family, the criminal actions, among other things).

Finally, this novel relates about the plans that Don Clericuzio thinks, with the objective of leave the criminal ambit. In this direction, the family it's divided between "legals deals" and "illegal deals". It's funny because the end of all the illegal deals happens with the annihilation of the rival family, the Santadio. The novel, besides the blood and dead, have histories of love and enjoyment that produces fun as same time that suspense and drama.

Which's your favorite book?

A Place in Santiago

Hello!

I don't have a favourite place in Santiago, because the place is special if the people who's with me is special too. But, if I must mention one, I'll says: Parque Bustamante. This park is placed in Providencia, near to Plaza Italia, Worker's Hospital and "Vicuña Mackenna" Museum. In this park, we can find children's games, a skatepark, statues and monuments, a scenary and a Literary Coffee.

I like very much this park because it has nice places to be. I specially like the Skatepark, the Playground and the Literary Coffee store. I think that this places are wonderful to be with someone, to talk, to rest, to get inspiration, etc. Also, I was there with my "bikers" friends to have fun, everyday! But now, I don't have my bike, so I don't go more there :(.

In my "biker" days, I used to go everyday for practice BMX!, but now I just go there sometimes. Today, I only go there for take the Metro, and I always remember my past as a biker.

Finally, I need to mention that the people who I have met at the park have marked my life, and I love them so much! So that park is really special, because the things that I did and the people that I have met brings me nice and cute memories :3.

It's all for this week! thanks.

Things that make me happy.

Hi!
Today, this topic's great for remember some cute things :)

Firstly, I need to mention that there're a lot of things that makes me happy, but today I'll tell you about 3 central concepts: Friends/Family/Pets, Hobbies and Passions.
Well, about the first idea, for me the friends are fundamental for the happiness. Doesn't matter the number of friends, matter if you love them, because the feeling of "love someone" (this apply to family, boyfriend/girlfriend, pets) is great! All the people "love the love", for this, the friends/family/pets in this moment is the thing that makes me happiest!

In second place, some hobbies always makes me happy like draw, train, play music, etc. My first great hobbie was play videogames, but then I discovered the sports (tenis, bmx and soccer!) and these sports was great for my maturity. But today, I'm spending my free time drawing and I like very much it! All the draws are special because all the animals that I draw means special things.

Finally, the passions are little feelings that make us happy. For example, support a football team (this is the more classic passions haha), but also we could be passionate for art, movies, music, etc. Do things related with our passions always makes us happy. In my life, i'm fanatic for Olympia (a football team of Paraguay) and my cousins also! Shouting is a good action for release stress, I think.

In general, all these things I discovered when I was a little boy, so in my life I only flourished them. I think that happiness doesn't depends of material things. On the contrary, the actions and social relations are the best things for be happy.

PET test

In the reading test (in my opinion) I have a good performance, in general I had few wrong answers (between 1-4), I think that's nice.
In listening test I could see my weakness, specifically the long audios... But, as a kind of self-criticism, I can understand the ideas of the sentences, but I can't understand the complete sentence, for this I had many errors (around 5).
Finally, I think that the vocabulary test was the more easy (for me), I had good performance and few errors).

My favourite present!

Hi!

Talk about presents -for me- is difficult because I don't like the materials objects. But, this present is
-for me- the best of all! My own guitar.
When I celebrated my 15th birthday, my best friend came to my house for be together. That day I was very happy, was a typical familiar day (for me, that friend is member of my family). When he arrived, he was carrying a big box and I was surprised for it! When he gave me the box, he said: "Open it, it's a present for you". I only had one way in that moment: Open the present, when I took a look about the contents, I couldn't believe it!
The contents was an acoustic guitar! In those times, I was member of a rock band and my role was the bassist (I knew only how to play bass, but no guitar), that present was for me the start of a new era for me!

I'm playing guitar since that day, and I never stopped my flair's development. My guitar survive many problems: chords broken, fall in earthquakes, etc. But I'm taking care of it every day (or I try to...).

Now, I know how play the guitar and how to compose music (rhythm, harmony and chords), until today I remember how was that moment in my life. My guitar represent a strong friendship, and the way that I took was the independent learning, in honor of the friendship.
That guitar have now 5 years old, and it has the essence of my friend.

My guitar is like this
